Miley Cyrus is a key example of how someone's branding is important. She has undergone many branding alterations over the last ten years as she was a Disney star who was a household name. She then decided that she had enough of living this perfect life and wanted to create a brand that was much more adult and explicit. However, more recently she has decided to go back to her country roots and be more authentic and natural. This page will concentrate more so on her current brand but will also reflect on her previous. As you can see in the image above taken from her website the typography and font of her name is playful and fun which reflects her new album. This playful feeling creates a view that Miley is trying to show people that she isn't taking life too seriously. There is also colourful stars around her name which adds a childish feeling to her brand and makes it feel light hearted.       

FASHION

Fashion is an aspect of Cyrus's brand that is crucial to how people see her as a person and as an artist. Miley has had multiple brandings and re-branding over the last couple of years and fashion is something that has been altered hugely. Miley's latest fashion (top right and bottom left) are styles that reflect her current genre choice. Miley is a country, western singer who is the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus and her latest fashions represent this side of her. The double denim is something that is classically associated with western culture. This new image is part of her reformation as in past years she has had a bit of an insane and crazy image. (seen in the top left and bottom right). Miley's last album was quite graphic and sexual. Her fashion at the time reflected this which in turn affected her branding and created a reputation which she is trying and being successful at breaking. Fashion is also something that can be extremely influential and Miley uses her fashion to promote political views and opinions. Miley has had multiple looks in the media and her fashion is very fluid which keeps fans guessing.  

MODE OF ADDRESS

Miley is very present in the media. People love to talk about her love life her music and her famous family. over the last few years, Miley has released a few albums and multiple singles which has kept her a household name and in the eye of the media. Each time she releases an album she does interviews and social promotion. The latest is her interview on Carpool Karaoke with Jame Corden. This is a great way to promote her album as it is a fun way of performing an interview. In this interview, she sings a few of her songs and talks about her life. SHe comes across as very down to earth and doesn't seem to take life too seriously. These types of interviews and this level of honesty in the media plays into her branding.   

PICTURES

Cyrus has her picture taken quite allot from paparazzi and fans. This makes it difficult to pinpoint a particular facial expression but around the screen are a variety of different poses. A key facial expression is when she sticks her tongue out. she gained a bit of a reputation and image with consistently sticking it out. This is something that she has since stopped doing with her new image. what is apparent from these images is that she has a relationship with the camera. she appears to be comfortable in front of it. she can be herself and true in front of the camera. this might stem from the fact that she grew up on the Disney channel set of Hannah Montana so is used to being consistently on film.      

SOCIAL MEDIA

Miley is highly active on social media constantly updating fans on her life. She uploads clips of her in TV shows and clips from her home life. This keeps her in the public eye as everything she uploads gets analysed by reporters and fans. Miley uses this platform to promote her latest music and her website. In today's day and age social media is a free advertising platform and Miley is advertising herself and her brand. There is a consistent theme across her social media emphasising her brand and musical identity.
